Thanksgiving… Giving thanks… what are you thankful for?

by Rusty Lindquist on November 4, 2008 · 6 comments

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite seasons.  I prefer to think of it as a season anyway, and not just a holiday.  A holiday is just that, a day.  It comes and goes.  But thanksgiving (like Christmas and Easter) I prefer to make a month-long event, if not longer.

It’s a reminder that I have much to be thankful for.

So, I’d like to dedicate this month to several posts about gratitude.  What is it?  Why is it important?  What role does it play in my eternal progression?  And most importantly, an open and public expression of those things for which I am most grateful.

I’ll let this post serve as a sort of “summary” where I’ll post links to all subsequent posts.  But I’d also like to find out what YOU’RE grateful for.

Please, try for a moment and reflect upon your life, and let us know what you’re grateful for this Thanksgiving season.

I’m thankful for siblings who are good examples to me and make me want to be be better. Your website is so impressive!

Oh, and I’m thankful for the fat, warm, soft, little bundle of sweetness who is squirming on my lap right now. Do you have one of those?

There is a seemingly endless list, but I’ll start with Heavenly Father, the Savior, His sacrafice (the atonement), and the wonderful plan of happiness. There is much, much more, but everything else is a result of the above.

Home, health and family… and early morning seminary. Really!

My family and their willingness to get together once a month for Sunday dinner, fun and chaos. And grandkids that love to sleep over at Grandma & Grandpa’s.

Thanks for sharing! Lilola, I’m glad you enjoy seminary, even if it IS early morning. I too LOVED seminary, even though it was early morning. It was awesome starting each morning on that note, I always felt so invigorating…. well, almost always.

Kami, wow, glad to see you on my site! I do SO love my sweet little chubby bundle of a boy, he’s growing so much I can’t beleive it. He’s 6 months old, and grown out of his 12 month old outfits. He’s in the 99th percentile in height and weight, so he’s got plenty of squeezableness (which I take full advantage of). He’s also already got two teeth! It’s sad how fast it happens.
